Nu Fridays
Shabbat Host Collective
Just for Gen Z
What does it look like to make Shabbat entirely your own, infused with your personality and shared with people you care about?
In the summers of 2025 and 2026, two cohorts of Angelenos ages 21–29 came together for Nu Fridays, a five-part experience exploring the art and heart of gathering. Through four thoughtfully crafted dinners in Venice Beach, participants learned how to welcome guests, shape rituals, set the mood, and create meaningful Shabbat experiences that felt personal and doable. Along the way, they built confidence, found community, and gathered inspiration from peers and facilitators, culminating in their own hosting debuts.
Nu Fridays will return.
Check back in 2027 for details about the next cohort and make sure to tell us you’re interested below.

A Possible Flow
PART 1: THE BEGINNING
We'll open our Shabbat journey with golden hour vibes and great company. As the light shifts, gather for a joyful, low-key evening of drinks, connection, and intention setting. This will be our first moment to meet – new faces, new friends, and a shared experience ahead. Toast what's taking shape and set the tone for a season of warmth, learning, and celebration.
PART 2: THE HEART OF GATHERING
Explore what it means to host with care and intention. How can we create spaces where every person feels like they belong and matter? How can we be thoughtful about the details – who's invited, how they're welcomed, the energy we carry into a room? Dive into the emotional and spiritual architecture of a meaningful gathering, creating moments of deep welcome, hospitality, and heart.
PART 3: SETTING THE TABLE
Food is at the center of the Shabbat experience, and feeding others is one of the oldest forms of love. Discover how to bring meaning, creativity, and ease into preparing meals, whether you're cooking for 2 or 22.
PART 4: REIMAGINING RITUAL
What makes a ritual feel real, relevant, and alive? In our final session, reclaim and reinvent rituals in ways that reflect who you are and how you live. We'll demystify "rules," share traditions, and craft rituals grounded in authenticity, making Shabbat something we all look forward to returning to each week.
PART 5: YOUR HOSTING DEBUT
Put it all into practice hosting with OneTable by Superhosting for a NuRoots festival.
And more opportunities to gather in community and learning in-between!
