Stories for the New Year: New Jewish Plays, Conversation & Community | Jewish Plays Project

This program, co-hosted by Jewish Plays Project, NuRoots, and Holocaust Museum LA, brings young adults together to read excerpts from two new plays by local Los Angeles Jewish playwrights inspired by the High Holidays, engage in conversation, and enjoy High Holiday-inspired food from The Falafel Garden. The event will take place at Holocaust Museum LA's new Goldrich Cultural Center campus, in the beautiful courtyard beneath the olive tree. Each play excerpt will be read aloud and cast-on-the-spot with audience volunteers. Following each reading, Executive Producer of the Los Angeles Jewish Playwriting Contest Lauren Schaffel and a Jewish thought leader (TBD) will facilitate a conversation inspired by the play, with plenty of time to eat and mingle. Designed for Jewish adults in their 20s and 30s, this program offers a welcoming opportunity to experience new Jewish stories, reflect on the themes of the High Holidays, and build community.
